Professor Kym Jarvis is named as a top inventor by the Government

Today Innovate UK announced the names of the 15 top women inventors who will share £750,000 of government funding. Innovate UK, the government's innovation agency, is seeking to redress the disproportion in the number of female applicants in their competitions, through a package of business support and a £50,000 individual grant to develop their innovations.

Kym will use the money to test the concept of a new tool, ViridiScreen® which will measure radioactive contamination on a surface and, in real-time, remove a small amount of material for detailed analysis. This is an innovative solution that could realise savings of many billions of pounds to the UK tax payer and the global nuclear industry.
